Research associate Lisa Nivison-Smith, who studies retinal neurobiology using a clinical approach, assessing data obtained from patients attending the Centre For Eye Health, is set to travel to Seattle next year after receiving a travel award from the CASS Foundation to attend the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) in May 2016. The annual ARVO meeting is the premier international conference in the field or vision and eye research and attracts over 10,000 attendees from over 75 different countries.
The CASS Foundation provides to support and promote research in the fields of science, education and medicine. This award aims to support early career researchers to attend meetings of significance in their field. Lisa attended this year’s ARVO annual meeting in Denver and hopes to present new results at the 2016 conference regarding her recent research analysing drusen in age-related macular degeneration using optical coherence tomography.
