Last night a team of CFEH Lead Clinicians presented a live webinar in collaboration with Optometry Australia. The webinar was entitled “Five papers that will change the way you practice optometry”. Our presenters covered recent publications around topics ranging from the management of acute retinal ischaemia through to the integration of teleophthalmology for patient management.

‘Beyond the macula’ – Dr Lisa Nivison-Smith, Pharma
Dr Lisa Nivison-Smith has an article appearing in the June issue of Pharma magazine. Lisa looks at peripheral retinal changes in a patient with AMD and reviews the literature around the presence of peripheral degenerative changes in patients who have AMD specific gene variants.
‘Confessions of a Clinician’ – Optometry Australia’s Pharma
Dr Angelica Ly, CFEH Lead Clinician (macula) and Integrated Care Coordinator had an open access article in Optometry Australia’s Pharma during May. The article “Confessions of a Clinician” looks at some of the dilemmas faced in clinical practice when managing AMD patients.

CFEH Lead clinician (macula) Dr Angelica Ly is lead author on a review published during May in Clinical and Experimental Optometry that looks at the evidence base around routine use of OCT in clinical practice. The paper is open access and available at the link below:
CFEH hosts bespoke optometry education course
During March and April, CFEH was fortunate to host 3 team members from the Yishun Health Campus (Singapore) for a 5 week customised education program. The program was highly successful and the entire CFEH staff greatly enjoyed getting to know the dedicated and enthusiastic participants Kendrick, Lijun and Sundary. We wish them every success in implementing different aspects of what they learnt during their time with us when they return home to Singapore.
CFEH research team attend ARVO in Canada
During May the CFEH research team were invited to present their recent findings at ARVO in Vancouver Canada. They have put together a short video to show everyone what they have been up to. Undoubtedly, they had a wonderful trip and enjoyed furthering their knowledge in the latest ophthalmic research!
