CFEH Telehealth Initiative
For over a decade, the CFEH clinical team have been using telehealth to collaborate with consultant ophthalmologists on challenging cases. This has allowed our patients to benefit from specialist opinions, and significantly enhanced the expertise of our clinicians.
We are now excited to be launching a telehealth platform which will extend the benefits of asynchronous telehealth to all of our referrers. All consultations on this platform will be conducted by CFEH’s most experienced optometrists.
The potential benefits of this service to both community optometrists and patients are substantial:
- Diagnosis and Management Advice: Enabling community optometrists to manage challenging or ambiguous posterior eye disease with confidence.
- Reduced Referrals: Potential to reduce unnecessary referrals to public ophthalmology services by equipping community optometrists to manage their own patients where appropriate.
- Cost and Time Savings: For patients who may not need tertiary services.
- Interactive CPD Hours: Each consultation counts towards interactive, therapeutic CPD hours.
The key features of our telehealth service include:
- Secure Platform: Purpose-built integrative platform for managing appointments.
- Convenient Appointments: 15-minute appointments offered at a variety of times.
- No Charge: To you or your patient – thanks to the support of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.
This platform is currently in the testing phase and will officially launch on August 1st 2024. We can’t wait to share it with you!
